ZEZTZ Cases 45–46 Explained: Hallucinate & Resurrect

Kamen Rider ZEZTZ Cases 45 and 46 explained: Nem's false life under The Lady, the real-world rescue, and what it sets up for the endgame. Air-date verified.

ZEZTZ Cases 45–46 Explained: Hallucinate & Resurrect

Kamen Rider ZEZTZ has entered its final month. Case45 aired July 26 and Case46 aired August 2, 2026 on TV Asahi (dates verified on the official story pages), and together they tear down the show's biggest illusion — literally. This is a spoiler recap of both episodes, written for collectors deciding what to watch before the finale rush.

Case45 — Hallucinate: Nem's borrowed life

Case45 belongs to Nem. Having awakened with no memory of her past, she's living as a nationally adored celebrity, managed day-to-day under the watchful eye of a "kind mother" — The Lady. It's the life Nemu's talent-manager storyline has been circling all series: fame, comfort, and a family that isn't real.

The spell cracks when the Oblivion Gore Nightmare appears and tries to merge with Nem. In the episode's most striking sequence, Nem wakes into an empty world and finds a poster of herself that reads "Recall the dream" — then jolts awake in her own bedroom. The loop of false awakenings is ZEZTZ doing what it does best: making you question which layer you're standing in.

And then the cavalry arrives the ZEZTZ way — Kamen Rider Zeztz Exdream dashes out of the Blood Moon, lands between Oblivion and Nem, and punches the Gore Nightmare into retreat. The final form that debuted earlier this summer is now spending its screen time as a guardian rather than a brawler, and that shift matters for how the finale is being set up.

Case46 — Resurrect: the rescue was the dream

Case46 recontextualizes everything Case45 showed us. Nem's "dreams" inside the illusion were actually her waking up in the empty real world — a world Baku had been quietly reshaping with his own powers to guide her toward him. The figure who reached out to her in the second false awakening was Zeztz himself. When she finally saw him clearly, she fainted on the spot.

It's a payoff to the series' lucid-dream rules: Baku can't punch his way into a sealed dream, but he can rearrange the world outside it until the person inside walks out on their own. After a season of Baku losing people, Case46 is the first unambiguous win — he saves Nem from The Lady's clutches.

The victory is immediately qualified. The Lady is revealed as the Phantom Gore Nightmare, and alongside Oblivion she's still standing at episode's end. Phantom's illusion-crafting is explicitly framed as beyond what Baku can handle alone — the show is loading the board for the team endgame.

What Cases 45–46 set up

  • Nem is out of the dream, but not safe. Oblivion wants to merge with her; that threat now drives every remaining episode.
  • The Lady = Phantom Gore Nightmare. The "family" villain reveal clears the path for a two-boss finale.
  • Baku can't win alone. Two straight episodes say so. Expect the sidelined allies to matter.
  • Direction and writing. Both episodes come from head writer Yuya Takahashi, with Jun Watanabe directing — the same staff block carries into Case46 and Case47.
